a few things ive been meaning to tell yall about the language barrier:
a. there are some french verbs that are translated differently than the normal ones, and i thought visiter (to visit) was one. so i was talking to someone and said i "was visited" by so and so instead of "i visited" so and so, and they politely informed me that saying you were visited makes you a bit of a hoe-bag, so refrain from using that.
b. the first two weeks here, when someone would offer me something that i didn't want, i'd say "je suis d'accord" which literally translates into "i'm okay" but it really means "i agree!" so everytime they'd ask me, " do you want more beef?", i'd be like I AGREE!
c. tampon in french means to plug. i think that's a really vulgar translation for a tool that almost 50% of the population uses.
enough of that. today was great. the kids were mucho nicer to me. and i didn't feel like i maid. i unloaded the dishwasher and the dad loaded it. teamwork. then i had a great run and went to the market and got some nice things for people. i alsooo used my debit card because, being the grown-up that i am, i called the credit card company and informed them that i am out of the country. dayum. im good. then i got the kids and brought them home for lunch, and after lunch, i sat on a park bench and read the letter that my momma send me and then i mailed a letter to jamie because it's her birthday! when i was reading in the park i saw some chinese people speaking french which was so cool. then i saw the creeper that told me he loved in me that morning in the park and i was kinda weirded out, but i kept an eye out and was in a very public place, so no worries. plus, i know where the police municipale is!
then it was time for painting class and i was the happiest person alive! they were mainly old ladies, but they were so nice and i was so happy to be there. one old lady leaned in to see my painting, but i thought she was giving me bisous (kisses) so i did the cheek to cheek kiss. hahaha. anyway, they invited me to go with them to an art exhibit thursday in st. remy which is where van gogh did a bunch of his amazing stuff and he was also hospitalized htere for being crazy, so im super stoked.
then i got the boy, brought him to music, got the girl, brought her home, then helped the dad remove nuts and bolts from the gate with a wrench. i liked it. then i assembled my package, and im here, pretty tired.
OOOOH BEFORE I FORGET! i talked on the PHONE to the girl who's gonna give me french lessons and we're either going to do it saturday or sunday. GO ME! GO HER! GO TEAM GO!
alright. enough is enough. doux monde, chelsea. (chill out)
ciao rumplestilskins.
